1. SUPPLIER DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER (FABRICATION)

As a Supplier Development Engineer, you will provide technical expertise and leadership to Product Sourcing Teams for evaluation and development of new and existing suppliers worldwide, while maximizing Quality, Cost, Logistics, Delivery, and Management at the supply base. You will help to ensure that a supplier is able to meet corporate and business unit requirements for SQEP certification levels and customer requirements for quality, cost, and delivery of purchased material.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as the trusted advisor for assigned supply base through the following functional responsibilities:  Assessing potential suppliers via on-site Quality, Cost, Logistics, Development, Management (QCLDM) audits, driving implementation of Lean, BIQ (Build in Quality), & APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning), continuously reviewing supplier capacity, assuring production readiness through rigorous review of supplier PPAP (Production Parts Approval Process)submission, being recognized as the expert in supplier quality.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to assure proper process control standards are in place and continuously monitor key manufacturing processes for improvement opportunities. 
  • Ensure suppliers have adequate people, training, tooling, fixturing, and equipment
  • Monitor suppliers’ adherence to Process Change Notification on a timely and cost-effective basis as well as to develop the supply base to fulfil the total requirements from Caterpillar Production System (CPS) implementation.
  • Support Category Strategies, supplier development & performance management and provide technical leadership in new supplier selection. 
  • Evaluate and develop new supplier’s technological capability to meet requirements for Caterpillar Inc.
  • Responsible for the supplier’s processes from design concept to the end of product life (cradle to grave).
  • Develop and maintain thorough knowledge of technological developments and trends for guidance of commodity teams in advancements of design, quality, and manufacturing.
  • Provide resolution and ensure implementation of robust solutions for quality problems associated with the purchased materials, logistics, and engineering issues.
  • Participate in the development of Supplier metrics and the monthly gathering and distribution of measurements.  
  • Support and participate in 6 Sigma initiatives with facilities, category teams, and suppliers.
  • Coordinate with engineering personnel on matters regarding Concurrent Product and Process Development (CPPD), New Product Introduction (NPI), Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) teams; prove design to production, engineering changes, deviations, supplier designs, specification approvals, meeting cost reduction goals, and participates in the Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) process with suppliers manufacturing processes.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferably in engineering
  • Minimum of 8 – 10 years of job-related experience
  • An engineering or manufacturing background plus familiarity with manufacturing processes (specific on Welding) used to produce components and assemblies for Caterpillar Products
  • Knowledge of shop operations and maintenance procedures
  • Good presentation skills
  • Good human relation/communication skills as well as possess the potential for leadership is required to develop a cooperative working relationship with others inside and outside of Caterpillar

5. REMARKETING CUSTOMER SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE (12-MONTH AGENCY CONTRACT)

JOB SUMMARY:  Provide Operations support to Remarketing sales staff for the timely disposition of full term and repossessed equipment.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Adds returned units to inventory and issues a request for inspection from the dealer or outside inspection service.  Follows up to ensure the inspection is completed in a timely manner. 
  • Prepares Notice of Sale/21-Day Letters for public and private sales and ensures all legal and compliance requirements are met for each asset in the Remarketing inventory.
  • Prepares files for off lease and repossessed equipment.  Loads inspection, pictures and machine information
  • Receives, interprets and processes auction proceeds, which includes preparing files for units committed to be sold at auction and the recording of data in a database for monthly and quarterly reports.
  • Coordinates and processes shipments from/to dealers, Regional Sales Centers and auction sites and processes freight related invoices.  Exercises knowledge of legal import/export requirements and resolves any claims for returns, shortages or damaged goods.
  • Issues purchase orders in the system including inspections, repairs and commissions.  Processes vendor invoices for services rendered.
  • Invoices non-compliant charges.
  • Enters inventory into CatUsed.com and appropriate database(s).  Communicates with various CFSC personnel regarding the advertisement of units for sale and/or removing units sold from the publication. 
  • Assists Remarketing personnel in the ongoing support of sales representatives, provides qualified backup when other personnel are away from the office and in planning/preparation of assigned special projects.
  • Works toward quality by providing both timely and accurate information regarding terminations to lessee and dealer.
  • Computes current market value of equipment using Collateral Values tables, green guide values or submitting a request to the Valuations department.
  • Undertakes special projects upon request and other functions deemed necessary to the success of the department.
  • May train other employees as needed.
  • Plans and facilitates meetings with assistance.
